I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I really appreciate Kim's honest and amusing posts. She's incredibly relatable.

(For me it was little elephant figurines. They were all over my room. All the other kids were going to The Limited and I wanted to check out the collector's aisle at Hallmark. So weird.)

The more I read your articles the more I believe you should write a book, after this maybe even a good murder mystery. Iceland the perfect location and the Icelanders, well, hey, they are some strange people. Love it! Can't wait for more.

yes! In retrospect, I'm often a little embarrassed by my pre-trip expectations which is why I try to approach things without them. It's just so hard to abandon "ourselves" when we try new things. Staying positive and keeping a calm, open mind always seems to work best for me. I'm happy you enjoyed the post! Thanks for reading!

I hope you will! I was truly blown away and it wasn't even peak season. My #1 recommendation is to rent a car and explore. It's just really exciting and beautiful.

Yes, you make a good point. Solo female travelers aren't exactly new in Europe, however in remote villages during off-season, it can take some by surprise. I think too often travelers expect a red carpet or open-armed embrace but at the end of the day, this is a small community, someone's home. I think maybe they felt like I caught them with their curlers in. "Hey! What's for dinner!?" :)
